Document guides
Choose the right next step for your document.
Start with the result you need: one ordered PDF, pages as images, or a note on a document. These guides explain the steps, limits and checks before you open the editor.
Try the three-page practice examplePut existing pages in order
Use page tools when the content is already correct. For a combined application, put the cover first, then supporting documents. Remove duplicate pages and turn sideways pages before saving one PDF.
Choose between a PDF and an image
Choose PDF for several pages that should travel together. Choose PNG or JPG for a page needed as a picture. A photo placed in a PDF stays a photo: it does not gain searchable text, and a blurry original remains blurry.
Add a note or a visible signature
Add text for a short note or label on top of a page. This does not rewrite the original text. A drawn signature is a visible mark; it is not a cryptographic digital signature. Check what the recipient accepts before using it.
Check the copy you will actually send
An editor preview is only one check. After downloading, reopen the saved file and compare it with the recipient’s requirements.
- Count the pages and check their order, orientation and margins.
- Zoom in on small text, notes and signatures to check readability.
- Check the required format and file size. Docs does not guarantee a target byte limit.
- Keep the original files until you have checked the downloaded copy.
Practice without personal files
The merge guide includes a sample cover and two certificate pages. Combine them, save one PDF and reopen it: the expected result is three readable pages with the cover first.
